PUNE - Saeed Mirza, a well-known director who makes meaningful films, will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the ICA Film Festival.
The Lifetime Achievement Award honored to the talented filmmaker who made a purposeful film that conveyed a social message and which has been forgotten today. The award consists of a memento, Indian Constitution, a shawl and Rs.11,000 in cash. Last year, the award was presented to Sagar Sarhadi by Asgar Wajahat in Pune. This year, the award presented by the members of the organizing committee at Saeed Mirza's residence.Saeed Mirza is known all over India as the director of his Television serial ‘Nukkad’. The serial became very popular all over India during the days when Doordarshan was black and white. He also directed films like ‘Arvind Desai ki Ajib Dastan”, ‘Mohan Joshi Hajir Ho’, ‘Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Aata Hai’, ‘Salim Langade Pe Mat Ro’ and ‘Naseem’. Mirza trained in 1978 at the Film Institute of Pune and produced a variety of films. Kaifi Azami had acted in his 1995 film ‘Naseem’. The film has won a national award.
He is director of TV Serial Intezaar along with various documentary films on social welfare and cultural activism. He is also a trustee of ANHAD, a Delhi-based NGO working for communal harmony. ‘Ammi: Letter to a 2 Democratic Mother’ is a novel that takes the form of a letter written by Saeed Mirza to his late mother. This autobiographical novel infuses life to the beautiful image of an intelligent and deeply emotional woman, who represents changing India.
This is the second year of this International Film Festival. The festival was held in Pune last year. Last year Noted Film Director Sagar Sarhadi was honored with life time achievement award by hands of veteran writer Asaghar Wajahat. Director of the festival Amandeep Singh mentioned in a statement.
